Getting fit means taking back control and not complete reliance in those who have an interest in making a profit from weight loss. Stress, anxiety, depression, anger moves many toward the refrigerator to find solace in food. Emotional eating increases cravings and the carbs. Fit people find it hard to eat when they are upset. Food is the last thing on their minds.

There are no secrets to weight loss. Since weight accumulates over a period of years, there can be no easy ways to shed pounds other than willpower and the discipline to reach for a weight loss target. Fit people have goals to shoot for. Fat people have none.

Fundamentally, there’s nothing wrong in this kind of thinking. Everyone with a bad habit needs a support group to help them. When it comes to weight loss, too many expect their doctors, dietitians, the food industry and others to do the job for them. Losing weight requires an active approach. Diabetes, heart disease, cancer affect more overweight and obese people. But that knowledge doesn’t scare the overweight to take action until the disease strikes. Fat people don’t see how their situation is reducing the quality of their life nor how their condition affects those loved ones who depend on them for support.

The best method to losing weight starts in the mind rather than with a weight loss pill. Even the best weight loss program will fail unless the mental approach to dieting is changed. Fat people try one diet program after another and fail. They see diets as fads. For the fit, diets are strategies that lead to better health, happiness and peace of mind.
